CELEBRATE SANDWELL AND FIND OUT ABOUT COMMUNITY GROUPS THIS FRIDAY

Come along to the Celebrate Sandwell event in West Bromwich this Friday (29 June) to find out what community groups and organisations have to offer you and your family.

Following the success of the first Celebrate Sandwell day last year, organisers have planned an even bigger and better event for 2018 with nearly 60 organisations taking part.

The free event runs from 11am to 3pm at West Bromwich Town Hall, with music, workshops, information stalls, fitness sessions and much more. Free food and refreshments will be available throughout the event kindly provided by volunteers and donations.

Stalls will be themed into three areas – community groups; health and therapy groups; and arts and museums organisations.

It will be a real celebration of community, and an opportunity to find out about volunteering opportunities too.
Entertainment will include a hula hoop dancer, percussion workshops, storytelling, musicians, poets and much more.

Sandwell Council’s deputy leader Councillor Syeda Khatun said: “The council is proud to support the Celebrate Sandwell event, bringing together local communities from all corners of Sandwell. We have amazing people who help and support the community in many different ways and have wonderful things for the people of Sandwell to do and join in.”
Co-op, Tesco, Aldi and local shopkeepers have also supported the event.

The Deputy Mayor of Sandwell, Councillor Carol Goult, will also be attending.

Richard Flatley, from the Sandwell Networkers group, said: “The Celebrate Sandwell event is open to everyone to join us, a chance for everyone to look at all the amazing things we have to offer in Sandwell.

“Organisations will be showcasing to people what is out there, what is on offer and what they have on their doorstep – a giving, health conscious, creative and multi-cultural community all around them. Do come along and find out more about what local charities and community groups have to offer you and your loved ones.”
