Gum-Bay Comes to West Bromwich Town Centre
Gum-bay Sunday comes to West Bromwich Town Centre
Online sellers using eBay and Gumtree are being encouraged to take part in a new-style Sunday market in West Bromwich town centre.
Gum-bay Sunday is being launched on October 2 offering a new concept in trading by creating a ‘collection point’ for online traders.
Car boot sellers and established market traders can also take up spots on the High Street Market stalls and the specialist trading area between Kings and Queens Square shopping centres.
The market has 76 numbered stalls along with various open pitches, and these can be booked and paid for in advance by contacting Sandwell Council’s Markets Service on 0121 553 3074.
Gum-bay Sunday is planned for the first Sunday in the month with trading from 10am-4pm.
Councillor Steve Eling, council leader, said: “The idea is to create a mix of trading opportunities which will make the most of the High Street market stalls and the area between the Kings and Queens Square shopping centres on a Sunday.
“We hope people who sell at car boots, established traders and people who sell online on sites like eBay and Gumtree will take up stalls and create a unique shopping experience.”
A special introductory price of £5 per stall and £15.75 per 12ft trading space on the specialist trading area will be available for the opening day.
Remaining pitches will be available to casual traders on the day if they wait outside Heron Frozen foods at 9am for an allocation by a markets’ officer.
